On the portage trail
On the portage trail

I write poetry both for the page and for oral performance and have published poems in literary magazines and dramatized them on theatre stages, in classrooms, and around campfires on canoe trips.

Working with dancers, musicians, and visual artists, I am particularly interested in the collaborative process of creativity. Joint projects have ranged from storytelling to choral compositions, from dance performances to theatrical pieces set in outdoor natural environments.

For many years I enacted mythic tales in several R. Murray Schafer productions: Princess of the Stars, The Enchanted Forest, and the collaborative “co-opera”, And Wolf Shall Inherit the Moon.

I live in Kitchener, Ontario, situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River, on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples.
